Mesothelioma lung cancer is really a misnomer. Pleural mesothelioma affects the tissue surrounding the lung cavity, while lung cancer affects the lung tissue itself. Pleural mesothelioma and mesothelioma lung cancer are often mistakenly used as if synonyms.
