Minerals of the asbestos group have two types of fiber formation: amphibole and serpentine. Serpentine asbestos rocks boast a curled fiber formation while amphiboles have straighter, more needle-like fiber formations. Chrysotile is the only type of asbestos that is in the serpentine family. The remaining five types of asbestos are amphiboles. |
